Best Video Editing Software for Beginners

Web content is taking a turn toward video whether SEOs and content marketers like it or not. Nearly 50% of marketers are adding YouTube and Facebook channels for video distribution in the next year; one-third of online activity is spent watching a video, and the video itself is projected to account for more than 80% of all internet traffic by 2019. 80%!Here are our recs for the top 10 best pieces of video editing software or video editing apps for beginner.

1. Lumen5

Lumen5 markets itself as a tool that turns blog posts into social promos. While the process isn’t perfect, and you’ll likely have to do some tinkering to get your blog content looking just the way you want it, the rest of the video creation process is a cinch. Merely refine some copy that teases your blog post; drag and drop some gifs, screengrabs, or video clips; add some music, and your engaging social video will be ripe for Facebook and Twitter.

Standout Features: Blog-to-social-promo creation; drag-and-drop interface

Pricing: Create as many 480p videos as you want with the free version; or, for $50 per month, upgrade to 1080p HD.

2. Nero Video

One of the cheaper options around ($49.99), Nero Video holds its own on this list—it comes well-stocked with a lot of the tricks and effects you’ll find among other products vying for video editing supremacy, and as far as software for beginners, you can certainly do worse. If you’re going to spend money learning how to edit videos, however, you might want to steer clear. Nero just doesn’t have the speed and functionality of some of the other products listed here, and if it’s value proposition is its price, $50 is still not all that cheap.

Standout Features: Low pricing

Pricing: One-time payment of $49.99

3. Corel VideoStudio

Corel VideoStudio has all the characteristics of the other top-of-the-line products on this list, including 360-degree VR and 4k support, but it also has the distinction of being the first piece of consumer video editing software to offer motion tracking—which, if you’re not already familiar, is a feature that allows you to track specific objects throughout your cut (if you wanted, say, to point an arrow at one of your characters, blur out his face, or bestow him with a funny hat). Most of the products on this list come equipped with motion tracking, but VideoStudio still boasts one of the best motion tracking systems around.

One of the knocks on VideoStudio is its speed, which lags notably behind some of the faster systems on this list, like CyberLink PowerDirector and Pinnacle Studio.

Standout Features: Motion tracking

Pricing: One-time payment of $51.99

4. Filmora from Wondershare

Filmora is Wondershare’s standard, simple, high-quality video editing offering; but Wondershare also offers FilmoraGo (for mobile editing) and Filmora Scrn (for screen recording and editing). The design is intuitive and easy to use and comes replete with filters, overlays, motion elements, transitions, and a small selection of royalty-free music.

4k and gif support are boilerplate features for most video editing products today, but one thing Filmora does particularly well is titled. Title tools are trending in video software, and while Filmora’s doesn’t have the functionality of say, an Apple Final Cut Pro X, which can superimpose 3D titles over your videos and rotate them on three axes, it nonetheless has some snazzy titling features for the money you’re spending.

Another Filmora feature beginners to video editing will find attractive is “Easy Mode,” which allows you to create fun, polished edits by merely dragging and dropping clips, choosing a theme, and selecting music.

Standout features: Title tool; mobile and screen editing; “Easy Mode”

Pricing: Starts at $59.99 for a lifetime license; or, $39.99 for a year.

5. Adobe Premiere Pro

With a virtually unmatched suite of features, 360 VR and 4k support, and a newly implemented ability to store organize, and share assets online with a team, Adobe Premiere Pro is perhaps the most complete piece of video editing software around. Here’s a recent video promo for our free AdWords account structure guide we cut using Premiere Pro.

One of the more dazzling of Premiere Pro’s tools is the Lumetri Color tool, which offers color adjustment and manipulation on par with that of Photoshop. The multi-cam feature is also a winner—whereas most systems allow you to work with a limited number of camera angles, Premiere Pro’s latest iteration allows for an unlimited amount.

Throw in a wealth of titling options, readily connected ancillary apps (like Photoshop and After Effects), and a flexible, easy-to-use interface, and Premiere Pro is a no-brainer.

Standout Features: Multi-cam and coloring options; title tool; easy integration with Adobe Products; straightforward interface

Pricing: $19.99/month

Smart farming: Now robots and AI are in agriculture fields tackling one of the biggest problems of the century

We are growing rapidly in terms of population, therefore need a food production and distribution system that can accommodate another 3.6 billion people—ideally while consuming as little additional land and leaving as small an environmental footprint as possible, in order to maintain vital ecosystem services and conserve Earth's remaining wildlife.
Businessman and robot handshake. Vector flat illustration royalty-free businessman and robot handshake vector flat illustration stock vector art & more images of robot

That's clearly a challenge given that around half of the world's habitable land is under agriculture of some kind—with a high proportion of this used for livestock farming.

In a widely reported recent study, Poore and Nemecek (2018) note that a shift away from meat and dairy consumption would go a long way towards relieving pressure on agricultural land and reducing environmental impact: "Meat, aquaculture, eggs, and dairy use ~83% of the world's farmland and contribute 56 to 58% of food's different emissions, despite providing only 37% of our protein and 18% of our calories."
figure-a.jpgMoving to a diet that excludes animal products, say the study's authors, could reclaim 3.1 billion hectares of global farmland (a 76% reduction), while reducing food's greenhouse gas emissions by 6.6 billion metric tons of CO2eq (a 49% reduction), among other environmental benefits.

Farming output can increase in two basic ways: By increasing the yield per unit area (intensification), or by expanding the area under cultivation (extensification). Increased cereal production has largely been achieved by intensification over the last 50 years. Only 16% more land was used for cereals in 2014 than in 1961, for example, while global cereal production increased by 280%. During the same period, the world's population increased 136%, which means that cereal production per person has increased even as the population has more than doubled.

figure-b.jpgThese increases were largely delivered by the post-WW2 Green Revolution—a suite of technologies and farming practices involving high-yielding crop varieties, agrochemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides), irrigation, and mechanization. Industrial-scale agriculture, often using genetically modified (GM) crops, has undoubtedly delivered many benefits, but there are costs too. These include high levels of inputs (which can become pollutants if inefficiently applied), the development of resistance to pesticides and herbicides, and the use of large, expensive, and environmentally damaging farm machinery.

These and other issues have sparked interest in sustainable intensification, where the goal is to increase production from existing farmland while minimizing environmental damage, thereby maintaining the land's capacity to continue producing food, and also helping to preserve biodiversity.

                        Precision Farming

Precision agriculture, also known as "smart farming" or "precision farming," is a key component of sustainable intensification. This combines remote sensing, IoT devices, robotics, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies into an integrated high-resolution crop production system.

One of the biggest drawbacks of industrial-scale farming is the use of large, heavy machinery such as tractors, sprayers, and harvesters, which compact the soil and compromise a crop plant's ability to develop a healthy root system. Soil compaction is an important factor—perhaps the important factor—in the slowing of crop yield increases that have been observed in recent decades—here, for example in the UK.

Another drawback of industrial-scale farming is its low resolution. For example, when agrochemicals are applied to fields via sprayers many metres wide, much of it misses the target: Not only is this wasteful, but it can also create environmental pollution, harming beneficial organisms and compromising ecosystem services.

These and other problems can be addressed by replacing big human-operated machines with multiple small autonomous devices, backed up by modern IT infrastructure. The primary goal is to "unlock" flatlining crop yield curves, as shown in the above graph.

Clearly, there's a lot to play for in precision farming—not only in terms of helping to feed the world more sustainable but also in terms of cold, hard business opportunities. For evidence, look no further than the September 2017 acquisition of machine learning specialist Blue River Technology by agricultural equipment giant John Deere for $305 million.

            Smart farming and mobile coverage

Agricultural IoT devices need to send and receive data over fast, reliable wireless connections, which means that the availability of mobile broadband in rural areas is a critical factor if projects like Small Robot Company and HandsFree Hectare are to scale up.

According to Ofcom's Connected Nations Report 2017, 4G services are currently available in 61% of the "outdoor geographic area" of England and 60% of Northern Ireland, with Wales (25%) and Scotland (17%) lagging far behind even this moderate coverage.

To improve mobile coverage in rural areas, Ofcom has announced plans to impose obligations on mobile operators bidding for 700MHz spectrum (part of next-generation 5G mobile services), which will be awarded in the second half of 2019 and released in 2020. Ofcom's 5G roll-out strategy is outlined in its Enabling 5G in the UK report.

In May 2018, 56 MPs from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Rural Services signed a letter calling on Matt Hancock, (then) secretary of state for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport at the time, to ensure that 95% of the UK gets mobile coverage from all four operators—Three UK, Vodafone, EE, and O2—by the end of 2022.

The letter argued that market forces are not sufficient to meet the needs of rural areas, and that regulation—legally binding coverage obligation on mobile operators—is required. The APPG also expressed concern that Ofcom's 700MHz conditions will fall short of the 95% coverage ambition (Figure E). As well as rethinking these conditions, the letter suggested that transparency rules be changed to prevent mobile operators hiding behind "commercial confidentiality" when refusing to divulge their roll-out plans.

Best Smartphones to buy in 2019 !

From ever-shrinking bezels to dual rear cameras trickling down to budget devices, smartphones have changed dramatically in 2018. And things are set to change even more as we enter 2019.
On the horizon, we hope to see radical new designs from Samsung, which is finally gearing up to unveil the foldable phone it's been prototyping for years, as well as new iPhones from Apple that are more of a departure from the relatively iterative iPhone XS and XR. Sprint, Verizon and AT&T are vying to deliver U.S.' first 5G-capable device in the first half of 2019, while Xiaomi — the Chinese firm that kicked off the entire bezel-free trend with its Mi Mix way back in 2016 — has an excellent opportunity to further innovate with the successor to the Mi Mix 2S.
1. Samsung Galaxy F
For years, Samsung has told us its first foldable smartphone, tentatively named the Galaxy F, was just around the corner. That corner wasn't in 2017. However, there's new reason to believe 2019 will be the year, as Samsung revealed a prototype of the device at its developer conference in November. The Galaxy F is expected to contain a 7.3-inch display that reveals itself when the device is unfolded; when it's closed, there's a display on the outside reported to measure 4.6 inches. The Galaxy F's most similar counterpart would have to be ZTE's Axon M, an AT&T-exclusive foldable handset that came out in 2017. Though we hope the idea is better implemented than ZTE's buggy effort.

2.Samsung Galaxy S10
The Galaxy F might represent the future of phones one day, but the Galaxy S10 and S10+ will be the Samsung devices that end up in most customers' hands next year. Emphasis on the plural "devices" there, because the latest rumors suggest there will be not two but three tenth-generation Samsung flagships to choose from in 2019. These devices could be sized at 5.8 inches, 6.1 inches and 6.4 inches, if current reports are correct. Additionally, the smallest of the three may have a flat display rather than a curved one, as seen in this leaked Galaxy S10 Lite image. A trio of rear cameras have also been rumored, as well as Snapdragon 855 power and in-display fingerprint sensors on the two more expensive models.

3. 2019 iPhones
Yes, three new iPhones were unveiled only a few weeks ago. But this is the smartphone industry, and things move very, very fast. Devices are planned years in advance before they ever see the light of day, and so it's not terribly surprising that rumors about next year's iPhones are already beginning to emerge.
KGI Securities analyst and all-around Apple soothsayer Ming Chi Kuo says Cupertino's future handsets will continue the dual-camera lens setup and probably ditch 3D Touch in an effort to keep costs down. Perhaps Apple will change the design after two years of the notched iPhone X look. And one report signals that Apple could embrace advanced 3D cameras from Sony in order to enable gesture control in games, sophisticated room scanning capability and more.

4.Pixel 3 Lite
With the release of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, you probably thought we'd heard the last of any Pixel rumors until the cycle kicked into high gear for the company's 2019 models. Well, it appears Google isn't through yet, because there is rumored to be a third Pixel in the works — a midrange, low-cost handset code named "Bonito." Now, we've been hearing about Bonito for a while — so long, in fact, that we were beginning to become quite skeptical if the device ever existed at all. And then the leaks started.
Based on the device shared on Russian tech blog Rozetked, we're looking at a Snapdragon 670-powered, 5.5-inch LCD-toting Pixel with 4GB of RAM, one front-facing camera, and — perhaps most surprising of all — a headphone jack. According to the report, this phone carries 32GB of internal memory and a battery about as large as the Pixel 3's. But what really has us excited is the 12.2-megapixel rear camera, which the leakster suggests will be exactly the same as the one inside the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. There might even be an XL version of the Lite, sans notch. A budget Android phone with a flagship-beating camera?

5. Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition
Vivo's Nex S was already one of 2018's most innovative devices, with its pop-out front-facing camera that enabled a nearly bezel-free design, as well as its in-display fingerprint sensor. But apparently that wasn't enough for the company, which decided to return to the drawing board soon after to unveil this — the Nex Dual Display Edition. This model puts a second OLED screen on the back of the handset, which eliminates the need for a separate front-facing camera. Anytime you want to snap a selfie, simply turn the phone around and capture your mug using the device's triple-lens main shooter. The Nex Dual Display Edition is so far only limited to Asian markets, though we hold out hope that one day, the company will expand its operation out West.

MIT Begins 3D-Printing Glass

While the thought of a machine that can squirt out endless ropes of molten glass is a bit frightening, the folks at MIT have just about perfected the process. In a paper published in 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, researchers Chikara Inamura, Michael Stern, Daniel Lizardo, Peter Houk and Neri Oxman describe a system for 3D printing glass that offers far more control over the hot material and the final product.
Their system, called G3DP2, “is a new AM platform for molten glass that combines digitally integrated three-zone thermal control system with four-axis motion control system, introducing industrial-scale production capabilities with enhanced production rate and reliability while ensuring product accuracy and repeatability, all previously unattainable for glass.”
The system uses a closed, heated box that holds the melted glass and another thermally controlled box where it prints the object. A moveable plate drops the object lower and lower as it is being printed and the print head moves above it. The system is interesting because it actually produces clear glass structures that can be used for decoration or building. The researchers take special care to control the glass extrusion system to ensure that it cools down and crystallizes without injecting impurities or structural problems.
“In the future, combining the advantages of this AM technology with the multitude of unique material properties of glass such as transparency, strength, and chemical stability, we may start to see new archetypes of multifunctional building blocks,” wrote the creators.

What Does This 3D-Printer Do?

G3DP2 is "a new AM platform for molten glass that combines digitally integrated three-zone thermal control system with four-axis motion control system, introducing industrial-scale production capabilities with enhanced production rate and reliability while ensuring product accuracy and repeatability, all previously unattainable for glass."
Essentially, it's a mega 3D-printer. It does the unthinkable.
For the first time, the MIT researchers believe this 3D-printer offers ideal transparency to create high-resolution sintered glass printing.
The silicate glass particles, they say, are suspended in resin. This allows it to form into complex geometries before the postprocessing removes the resin to create the glass body.
"This approach is suitable for fabricating small and highly detailed parts such as microfluidics and optics because it delivers high precision and optical transparency," the research states.
The project has two goals: 1) To create an industrial-scale molten glass 3D-printer and 2) Develop a 3D-printer glass structure that's capable of evaluating "practical capabilities of the new system in an industrial production."
The G3DP2 printer works by using a closed, heated box to keep the melted glass in place, with a thermally-controlled one for the actual printing to take place. Then, a plate descends the object to let it print, just like a regular 3D-printer.
Thanks to this innovation, MIT believes it can be used for decoration or building. Eventually, this 3D-printer can hit the marketplace and help people build more than ever before.
